Videos show confrontation at gas station that led to man’s death

Las Vegas police have released three videos involving an early Saturday morning altercation between two groups of people that began at a central valley gas station and resulted in the death of a man.

The identity of the deceased man was not released by authorities.

Police said the victim was shot twice, once in the head and back. He was taken to University Medical Center about 3:30 a.m. Saturday and later died.

Police said whoever dropped off the injured man fled.

The videos from a Terrible Herbst Gas Station on the northwest corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bonanza Road show the suspect and the car he drove away from the gas station, police said.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban. The suspect is described by police as a light-skinned black or Hispanic adult wearing an oversized white T-shirt, dark pants and white tennis shoes. A clip of the suspect walking into the gas station’s convenience store shows the best close-up shot of him. The victim was in a 1992 red Nissan NX2000.

Police said two white compact cars also seen on video are not suspect vehicles, but the cars’ occupants are considered witnesses and police would like to talk to them. One video shows the two groups in an apparent argument. The Suburban pulls out of the gas station first and is followed by the NX2000.

The videos do not show the shooting. Police believe the Suburban might have sustained damage in the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting and the individuals shown on the videos is urged to call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
