Olivia Newton-John’s three-year Flamingo run is done

NO OLIVIA IN ‘17

Olivia Newton-J0hn announced her residency at Flamingo Las Vegas in grand fashion in April 2014, arriving on the Strip in the flame-painted ‘49 Mercury Convertible from the movie “Grease” and a bunch of Chippendales in tow.

ONJ’s departure carries no such flourish. Her “Summer Nights” series, helmed expertly by music director Dane Bryant and his great backing band, ended in December sans fanfare. Her publicist Michael Caprio said Sunday that Newton-John’s 2017 schedule could not align with the hotel’s showroom availability.

ONJ alternated dates with Donny and Marie Osmond in the Donny & Marie Showroom, and is currently on tour through May, following her shows in the U.K. earlier this year. There is a possibility of an arena tour of Australia by year’s end. (She’s also working on a new recording and a movie project, and has planned time off in July and August).

During her time on the Strip, Newton-John was active in cancer-prevention charity efforts, becoming a city and column favorite. Hopefully “Summer Nights” — or a variation — can find a new home in ‘18.

TALKING DOGS NO MORE

In his role as the new finance chairman of the Republican National Committee, Steve Wynn last week spoke of his long relationship with President Donald Trump on “CBS This Morning.” Co-host Gayle King inquired about the crossfire of insults between the two billionaires over the decades: “He called you a ‘scumbag.’ You said he was ‘all hat and and no cattle’.” Wynn grinned back, then responded, “That was a long time ago, and to quote [Pulitzer Prize-winning essayist and poet N. ] Scott Momaday, ‘That was back when dogs could talk.’ … Both of us are too old to have any enemies.”

MAYORAL CONVERGENCE

A bona fide Las Vegas success story, former mayor Jan Jones Blackhurst, was honored with the first Glow Award for community support at the inaugural Boneyard Ball at Paris Las Vegas. The event was a fundraiser for the Neon Museum at 770 N. Las Vegas Blvd. The mayor of Las Vegas from 1991-‘99, Jones Blackhurst is today senior vice president of communications and government affairs for Caesars Entertainment.

It was a rare occasion, with a former mayor, the current mayor, Carolyn Goodman, and (potential) future mayor Rep. Shelley Berkley. Should Goodman not seek reelection in two years, Berkely (who served in Congress from 1999-2013) says she would love to campaign and serve in that role.

’PIN UP’ CLOCKS OUT

“Pin Up” at the Stratosphere received an enthusiastic farewell standing ovation as the show ended its run Saturday night. The cast was tireless in its 1,000+ performances (passing that milestone last week), with Claire Sinclair serving as celeb host throughout.

Natalie Brown, the show’s singer, is moving to “Vegas! The Show” at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. Brown is the last in a long line of fine “Pin Up” vocalists (including Lisa Marie Smith, Anne Martinez, Savannah Smith, Autumn Belanger and Maren Wade among them) who have joined David Saxe’s talented cast in “VTS.”

WHO WAS WHERE

Vociferous Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, actress Mia Frampton and recording artist Redfoo at separate cabanas Saturday at Marquee Dayclub Dome at the Cosmopolitan … Scott Hoying of Pentatonix at Tao restaurant at the Venetian, and later at Marquee Nightclub at the Cosmo … Saturday, actor Chris Evans (“Captain America”) at Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace. Evidently he was in town for a bachelor party and was with a group of about 10 friends at a VIP table … At Nelly’s performance at Drai’s nightclub at the Cromwell on Saturday, Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga in a VIP booth.
