Salad dressing can’t hide

Here’s a little trivia on Green Goddess salad dressing: It reportedly was created at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco in the ’20s to honor actor George Arliss, who was appearing in a play titled, appropriately enough, “The Green Goddess.” Since then its popularity has been as up and down as most actors’ careers, but readers say it’s available in Las Vegas for Kaye Adams.

Nancy Norton, Angie Wagner, Marge Boelhouwer, Maryln Harrison and Janet Nordine reported finding it at various Wal-Mart Supercenter and Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets. Lynn Allard reported finding it at Smith’s at 7130 N. Durango Drive, Brent Shaw at Smith’s at 4440 N. Rancho Drive. And Ruth Jagodzinski said it’s available at www.VermontCountryStore.com (or call 802-776-5730). …

For John Mierta, Shaw said Smith’s at 4440 N. Rancho Drive also carries Polaner All-Fruit in regular and sugar-free varieties. …

For Connie Hannon, who’s looking for supermarkets that sell gelato, Mamie Glorioso suggested Trader Joe’s, Jonelle Hughes suggested Sunflower Farmer’s Market (3365 E. Tropicana Ave. or 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd.), Hughes and Jo-Ann Geller recommended Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market and Hannon herself reported finding it at Smith’s at 55 S. Valle Verde Drive in Henderson. …

And for Alan Popowcer, who’s looking for reader suggestions for the best beef Wellington in town, Janice S. Mathews recommended the Carmel Room at the Rampart Casino, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., and Robert Lepore recommended the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South. …
