Readers help with holiday wish lists

My oven has been going practically nonstop lately, and I suspect that’s the case in the kitchens of many Taste of the Town readers. So, just in time for Christmas, here are some responses to holiday-themed queries.

I’d given up on finding cake yeast in the valley anymore and had been using solely active-dry yeast, but in response to a request from Joe Pellissier, Jean Zinteck emailed that cake yeast can be found at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. …

In response to Tom O’Farrell, Sharon Bateman emailed that she found None Such mincemeat in both jars and boxes at Vons at 7530 W. Lake Mead Blvd. I saw it in jars at Albertsons at 3810 E. Sunset Road. …

And, in light of a request from Denise Gerski, I spotted pomelos at Whole Foods Market at 100 S. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson, as you’ll see in the main story on this page. (There are three other Whole Foods stores in the valley.) …

For Alice Scrivner, who’s looking for Cock & Bull ginger beer, Bobbie Janice Carson reported finding it at Total Wine at 501 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson (there’s another Total Wine at 730 S. Rampart Blvd.), and Kelly Beeson reported finding it at Lee’s Discount Liquors. …

For Rosemary Cohen, who’s looking for sticky buns with nuts or raisins, Bev Greer and Marie Villareale recommended Great Buns at 3270 E. Tropicana Ave. …

For Robert Starcher, who’s looking for fried alligator, Florida ex-pat Eric Blum said the best he has found locally is at The Hush Puppy Restaurant at 7185 W. Charleston Blvd.; there’s another Hush Puppy at 1820 N. Nellis Blvd. …

For Jerry and Carol Schull, Rose Wilson reported finding barramundi at Whole Foods Market in Henderson. …

Here are more reader requests.
