Readers dish on Buffalo favorite

I totally understand why that Buffalo favorite beef on weck didn’t catch on across the country like Buffalo chicken wings, but I also understand why it’s dear to the hearts of ex-Buffalonians. And so, this week, we have responses to a plea from Fred Giesz.

Noah Baker and Jan Visser recommended Santora’s at 4401 E. Sunset Road in Henderson (which recently reverted to its former name), Wendy Sanzari recommended Giuseppe’s at 6065 S. Durango Drive, “Buffalo” Bob Rusnock recommended Johnny Mac’s at 842 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, and Melanie Scott suggested Moon Doggie’s at 3240 Arville St. …

For Neville Vanassche, Karen Langbert and Lani Lacombe said he can find English-style pickled onions in the British section at the International Marketplace at 5000 S. Decatur Blvd., Marion Muther emailed that they’re available in the British section of the international aisle at Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, and Ron Schultz of the Crown & Anchor, 1350 E. Tropicana Ave. and 4755 W. Spring Mountain Road, emailed that they don’t sell them but do serve them with any entree for an extra charge. …

For Keran Byrd, Karen Amerault emailed that she finds ready-to-eat lupini beans at the International Marketplace as well. …

For Mike Ciempil, who’s looking for Genessee Cream Ale, Melanie Scott reported spotting a can in a tub of chilled beers at Your Stop at 860 E. Twain Ave. …
