Princess Cake at shop in Henderson

I’ll say it once again: Taste of the Town readers never fail to surprise me. When Peggy Silva emailed in search of Princess Cake, a dome-shaped cake with raspberry filling, which she had been familiar with in California, I was doubtful that we had a local source. But indeed we do: Chef Flemming’s Bake Shop, 7 S. Water St. in Henderson.

The discovery was reported by Jennifer Karuhn and also by Carol Hecht, the latter of whom said she’d been driving to Los Angeles with a cooler and schlepping the cake back for the past 12 years before she found it at Chef Flemming’s. …

For Denny Valentine, who’s looking for extra-green bananas for making pasteles, Gen Gazmey recommended the Marketon supermarket at 2475 E. Tropicana Ave., and Carmen Calabro said green plantains for making pasteles and plantain leaves for wrapping them are available at Mariana’s Supermarket at 4141 S. Eastern Ave. There are other locations of both chains in the valley. …

For Larry Johnson, Colleen Sams reported that Hood Milk is available at Albertsons at 2650 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson. …

For Pattie Gray, Barbara J. Mang reported finding Stokes Green Chili with pork and also with chicken at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1110 W. Pioneer Blvd. in Mesquite, adding that it’s hard to spot and with the Mexican food items. …

For readers who, like himself, are looking for honey butter, Will Thomas reported that it’s available at Sam’s Club at 7175 Spring Mountain Road. …
