Fans find pickled herring in sauce

There are plenty of jokes about pickled herring, so that should tell you something. But it definitely has its ardent fans, and a number of them have answered Roberta Shulman’s search for pickled herring in cream sauce.

Donna Alper recommended the herring at Bagel Cafe, 301 N. Buffalo Drive, where, she added, “you can get all the cream sauce and onions you want.” Ron Schultz emailed that it’s still available in 32-ounce jars by Lasco at Smart & Final at 10050 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson, Barbara Silver said she finds it at Sam’s Club at 5101 S. Pecos Road, Rose McKie faxed that she finds it at the International Marketplace 5000 S. Decatur Blvd. and Glazier’s Food Marketplace at 8525 W. Warms Springs Road, and Robert Dudnick emailed that he finds it at Safeway in Arizona, noting that Safeway owns Vons. …

For Howard Reed, who’s looking for extra-long hot dog buns, William Isaac and Bev Greer emailed that they’ve found them at Great Buns at 3270 E. Tropicana Ave., with Isaac adding that they’re not foot-long, but are extra long, and Greer saying she also uses them for meatball subs. …
