El Cortez hosting Vegas StrEATS Festival

The next Vegas StrEATS Festival is 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at the El Cortez, 600 Fremont St., with local art and clothing vendors as well as food trucks.
A ChowDownTown pop-up dinner is scheduled for The Flame Steakhouse at the El Cortez from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The four-course dinner is $45 per person; visit www.OpenTable.com or call 385-5200.
And May 18-19 is the last weekend for the weekly stone-crab special at The Flame. It’s $28 per pound, with cottage fries and coleslaw, Fridays and Saturdays. …
Monday through May 20 will be Tivoli Days at Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Blvd. The celebration starts Monday with a dine-around, with restaurants donating 10 percent of food sales to the Children’s Miracle Network. Tivoli Taste & Toast from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday will include chef demonstrations, live entertainment, seasonal produce and other foods. The Fresh 52 farmer’s market will occupy its usual slot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19 and a Food Truck Throwdown is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 20. Collection bins also will be placed around the village for food-item donations to Three Square food bank. …
The Celebrity Chef Tour for the James Beard Foundation will be at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a dinner prepared by Bruce and Eric Bromberg of Blue Ribbon, Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto in New York and Sandy Tuason of the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Resort in Hawaii. Letter carriers are asking residents to put donations of canned foods next to their mailboxes on Saturday for their Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Donations will be used locally to feed hungry people. …
