DINING: This is Back-Up Friday for plumbers
November 24, 2010 - 2:23 pm
It may be Black Friday to retailers, but the day after Thanksgiving is Back-Up Friday to plumbers, because it’s one of the busiest days of the year for them, according to the wags at ARS/Rescue Rooter.
And why would that be, you may ask? Because people spend Thursday stuffing stuff that they shouldn’t down their drain and/or garbage disposal.
Among the top holiday drain-cloggers, the company says, are potato peels (rated the No. 1 clogger), turkey skin, gravy, oils and greases of all types, egg shells (egg shells?) dairy products and rice and coffee grounds, both of which can expand in a disposal.
So watch what you pitch.
