DINING: National Bologna Day — who knew?

I’m guessing it’s a pretty good bet that you don’t know that Sunday (Oct. 24) is National Bologna Day, and so therefore you don’t know you have an opportunity to celebrate it, but you do. Rock & Rita’s at Circus Circus, 2880 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering two-for-one fried-bologna sandwiches on Sunday. The sandwiches are 100 percent beef bologna with mustard and American cheese on a toasted bun. And if you follow @RockandRitas on Twitter, you can get a free fried-bologna sandwich just by showing the “retweet” to a server. …

The second annual Italian Festival is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 23-24) at M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South in Henderson. Events will include cooking demonstrations, spaghetti eating (noon Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday) and grape stomping contests (1:30 p.m. Saturday), live music, face painting, tattoo artists and more. More than 20 vendors will offer food and fun. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 6, which includes a beverage. …

The bottlings of Italy’s Fontodi Winery will be featured in a dinner at 7 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 28) at Nove Italiano at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road. With an entree of dry-aged rib-eye, the five-course dinner is $150 per person, plus tax and tip. For reservations, call 942-6856. …

An interactive cocktail and cooking class on creating a holiday taco fiesta is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at Dos Caminos at the Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. South. It’s $65 per person plus tax and tip, which includes coffee and Mexican hot chocolate, a signed copy of “Mod Mex” by corporate executive chef Scott Linquist, the demo with question-and-answer session and a lunch tasting of demonstrated food items and two cocktails.
