Is your name Dave? Or David or Davy?

If so, you can eat free Sunday (Aug. 14) at Famous Dave’s, which has five locations across the valley.

Anyone who has valid ID proving that his (or her) first name is Dave, David or Davy can get a free entree with a maximum value of $15. If your middle name is Dave, David or Davy, you can get an entree for half-price. If your last name is Dave, David or Davy, you’re out of luck.

As you might imagine, Dave’s Day is in honor of Famous Dave’s founder Dave Anderson. This is the third time the company has celebrated it. …

Thursday (Aug. 11) is Blizzard Day in America. A dollar or more for every Blizzard sold at participating Dairy Queens across the country will be donated to Children’s’ Miracle Network Hospitals. Nutter Butter is the Blizzard flavor for August, but Blizzard Miracle Day has its own flavor, Oreo Cookie. …

Roy’s Restaurant at 8701 W. Charleston Blvd. will host a wine club event, featuring wines of Spain, at 5 p.m. Friday (Aug. 12). The four pours, accompanied by food, are $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers.

Roy’s Summerlin also has scheduled a cooking class by chef/partner Quy Trinh for 6 p.m. Aug. 24. The class, which will cover Szechuan barbecue ribs, yuzo-soy-marinated grilled salmon and grilled watermelon with lychee sorbet, is $45, plus tax and tip. Call 838-3620. …
