Chicken Kiev, right this way …

There’s something deliciously decadent about chicken Kiev and the warm spurt of herbed butter that bursts forth when it’s pierced with a knife. (OK, now I’m hungry for dinner, and it’s only breakfast time.) No wonder, then, that we received several replies for reader Bud Weill, who’s looking for a frozen version.

Sheila Greenbaum emailed that Barber Foods chicken Kiev in boxes of two or six (and broccoli-stuffed chicken) is available at WinCo Foods, which has stores at 80 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson and 6101 N. Decatur Blvd. Denny Huff emailed that Barber Foods chicken Kiev (and chicken Cordon Bleu) is available at Smart & Final at 365 W. Craig Road. Libby Casolari reported finding it at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road, and at Vons. And Tim and Chemaine Jensen at Village Meat & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., said they carry the Barber brand as well. …

And speaking of luxury: For Rick Jones, who’s looking for canned escargots from France, Casolari recommended Whole Foods Market, which has four stores in the valley, and Cost Plus World Market, which has stores at 2151 N. Rainbow Blvd. and 3890 Blue Diamond Road. The Jensens of Village Meat & Wine said they carry it, too, and Craig Coleman recommended Escal Burgundy Escargots, which he orders from the gourmet foods department of www.amazon.com. …

More on Tastykakes: Bill Hoover said a large variety is flown in along with the fresh seafood to The Crab Corner at 4161 S. Eastern Ave., adding that they also carry the company’s fruit pies, which Rob Lindley is looking for. And Chuck Himber said a variety of Tastykakes is available at Glazier’s Food Marketplace. …

More on Sicilian pizza: Ken Adams recommended New York Pizza & Pasta at 2400 S. Jones Blvd. (adding, “Tell them to make the pizza thin crust all the way to the edge with pepperoni and fresh garlic”) and Michele Bonelli recommended Cugino’s at 4550 S. Maryland Parkway. …

Here are more reader requests.
