Combs disputes accounts of arrest at UCLA practice facility

Musician Sean “Diddy” Combs’ company offered the hip-hop mogul’s version of an incident a day after an altercation at UCLA’s athletic facilities resulted in his arrest.

Combs, whose son Justin is a redshirt junior defensive back for the Bruins, was arrested at Acosta Athletic Training Complex at 12:30 p.m. PT Monday after an alleged assault with a kettlebell, the school said in a statement. The altercation allegedly occurred after UCLA strength coach Sal Alosi criticized Justin Combs during a conditioning session.

Diddy, 45, was released from jail on $160,000 bond several hours after the incident. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, making terrorist threats and battery.

Combs Enterprises said in a statement on Tuesday that the entertainer was trying to protect himself and his son. Combs and his representatives expressed “confidence that the case will be dismissed.”

“The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate,” Nathalie Moar, a representative for Combs Enterprises, said in a statement to the Associated Press. “What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son.”
