Celine Dion’s new album a reflection of Caesars show

Celine Dion’s Las Vegas show may not have changed much since she was last here in September. But in that time, she has sure done a lot to remind the world she’s here.

The release of “Loved Me Back to Life,” the singer’s first English-language studio album in six years, had the Canadian superstar showing up on everything from “The Voice” finale to Canadian TV on New Year’s Eve (in a remote from Caesars Palace).

The new album is a mixed bag of styles that’s in keeping with her Colosseum at Caesars Palace showcase and possibly even influenced by it.

It includes the Janis Ian cover “At Seventeen” that was long in the live show, and the duet with Stevie Wonder on “Overjoyed” that she performs with a projected video of the singer at Caesars.

But the album also pushes her into contemporary waters, including the poppy title track that has been added to the live show’s set list, a Ne-Yo duet on “Incredible” and “Water and a Flame” from Adele collaborator Francis “Eg” White.

The album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s album chart and dipped as low as the No. 38 spot before rallying back to No. 26. As she’s shown on the Colosseum stage, this is a singer playing for the long term.
