Watts to perform music of Liszt

Pianist Andre Watts will present "An Evening with the Music of Franz Liszt (1811-1886)" at 8 p.m. Friday in Artemus Ham Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

Tickets are $30 to $65 and are on sale at the UNLV Performing Arts Center box office or by calling 895-2787.

The pianist began his career at age 16 when Leonard Bernstein chose him to debut with the New York Philharmonic in its Young People’s Concerts, broadcast nationwide on CBS.

Watts received the Avery Fisher Prize in 1988, and at the age of 28 he was the youngest person to receive an honorary doctorate from Yale University.

The pianist has appeared on numerous programs produced by PBS, the BBC and Arts and Entertainment Network and has performed with the Boston Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra.
