UNLV Performing Arts Center announces 2015-16 season

From classical musicians to circus acrobats, performers from around the world will take the stage(s) during UNLV’s 2015-16 Performing Arts Center season.

The long-running Charles Vanda Master Series, the Allegro Guitar Series and the UNLV Chamber Music Series will bring a variety of programs to the university’s Artemus Ham Hall and Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall.

The Master Series opens Oct. 24 with Well-Strung, a New York City-based string quartet that fuses classical and pop music, instrumentals and vocals.

Other Master Series performances include violinist Sarah Chang with pianist Julio Elizalde (Feb. 6) and the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, featuring pianist Marcin Koziak (March 17).

Also on the schedule: the National Circus and Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China (Oct. 2); a holiday concert from a cappella kings Rockapella (Dec. 5); and the David Orlowsky Trio in “The Soul of Klezmer” (April 2).

The Chamber Music Series, meanwhile, kicks off Sept. 16 with La Belle Epoque, featuring UNLV faculty members performing works by such French composers as Ravel and Poulenc.

Additional Chamber Music Series performances feature the Pacifica Quartet (Oct. 22) and the Amernet Quartet (Jan. 28).

The Allegro Guitar Series features Larry Del Casale & Carlos Barbosa Lima in “Classical Gas” (Nov. 21); Andrew York (Feb. 20); and Duo Deloro, alias guitarists Adam del Monte and Mak Grgic (April 13).

The UNLV Performing Arts Center continues its Design Your Own Series program during the 2015-16 season, which offers patrons an early opportunity to select a variety of shows at a discount. For information on season subscriptions, call 702-895-2787 or visit pac.unlv.edu.
