Residents can speak out on F Street plans

Residents will get a chance to have a say in the public art that will decorate a planned improvement of F Street near downtown Las Vegas.

The city of Las Vegas and Nevada Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting March 28 at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 J St., to take input on panels designed to interpret people, places and things that were important in the development of historic West Las Vegas.

The area is generally bordered by Carey Avenue on the north, Bonanza Road on the south, Interstate 15 on the east and Rancho Drive on the west.

The overall project is the result of 2009 state legislation that directed the state and the city to reopen a section of F Street that was closed as part of an I-15 widening project.

The city used about $2.5 million in redevelopment funds to design the project, and the state is expected to spend up to $20 million in property tax on construction.
