‘Hear, Here,’ June’s First Friday to focus on auditory adventures
The First Friday arts festival is scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. Feb. 6 at venues throughout the 18b Arts District in downtown Las Vegas. Admission is free, and free parking with shuttle service is available at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. A shuttle also leaves from Sixth Street across from the El Cortez valet entrance. Live entertainment, artists’ booths, food vendors and more are planned.
For June, the organizers are celebrating the art and science of sound with “Hear, Here,” featuring a variety of auditory programming, including a silent dance party, a design-your-own instrument station where visitors can craft their own rainmaker or shaker and other family-friendly activities.
Music is set to be performed by Eddie Jeffers, School of Rock Las Vegas, musicians from Deblanc Music Entertainment and the kids from Xpressions Talent. Patrons can also expect pop-up performances throughout downtown. Speakers are set to discuss the support of unity in music. Live performances are also scheduled at Artifice and Bar + Bistro @ The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd. Teen attendees can dance at the Shuffle Zone behind Art Square, which is set to feature DJs and electronic music.
Screenings of music-related TED talks are scheduled at Colorado Avenue and Main Street.
