‘Hair’ performances among First Friday happenings
The monthly First Friday arts festival returns from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday to the 18b Las Vegas Arts District downtown.
This month’s event is set to feature interactive concert performances of the musical "Hair" featuring talent from the Strip and Broadway at 6 and 9 p.m. on the 3rd Street Stage. The free Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS productions are to be followed by a retro party performance of the show at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road. Other First Friday activities include free yoga classes provided by Vegas Hot! at 6:30 p.m., Pilates at 8 p.m. and choreographed kettlebell demonstrations with the Barefoot Bootcamp team at 9 p.m. on California Avenue east of Casino Center Boulevard.
The Kids Zone, on Casino Center south of California, is set to offer LEGO building by Bricks 4 Kidz, a petting zoo by Roos-N-More, performances by the SING Foundation and interactive projects from the SYN Shop. For more information, visit firstfridaylasvegas.com.

The Brett Wesley Gallery, 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd., is slated to premiere "New Thrills" by Giovanni Morales.
The Contemporary Arts Center inside The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., plans to show Aaron Nemic’s participatory audio and video project "Less Popular Music" Thursday through Oct. 27. An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The artist is scheduled to speak at 6:30 p.m. Visit lasvegascac.org or call 382-3886.
The Trifecta Gallery inside The Arts Factory plans to showcase Brian Henry’s "Machina ex Machina II."
The Jenny Valdez Inc. Gallery inside The Arts Factory is slated to feature works from its "Under the Sea" exhibition.
The City of the World, 1229 S. Casino Center Blvd., is slated to showcase works from John Castillo in the main gallery.
The Rotunda Gallery inside the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, plans to show "Inner Sanctum" by Troy Gillett through October. The show is constructed from reclaimed Las Vegas doors in various states of decay. A reception and preview is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Gillet is also scheduled to make appearances during First Friday festivities from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Oct. 5. Gillet is scheduled to talk about this work at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4. Enrique Nevarez’s "Camelot," a series of stencils depicting the lives of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, is scheduled to be on display at Blackbird Studios, 1551 S. Commerce St.
