Female impersonator to perform at Onyx

Female impersonator David de Alba will present “Finocchio Club Backstage Memoirs” at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Onyx Theater, 953 E. Sahara Ave., Suite 16.

Tickets for the show are $10 and are available at the Onyx Theater Box Office, 732-7225.

As one of Finocchio’s featured attractions, de Alba was part of the history of the world-famous San Francisco club that closed in 1999 after 63 years in the city’s North Beach district.

In his one-man show, de Alba, who now lives in Las Vegas, recounts entertaining and funny anecdotes that took place backstage at the club and sings the songs that made him well-known in his years at Finocchio’s. Photographs and film clips of performances by the Finocchio cast accompany the presentation.

As Boy-Chic, one of the three personas he uses on stage, de Alba sings songs in both English and Spanish. His closing act is an interpretation of Liza Minnelli’s “New York, New York.”
