3 new CDs to make your ear holes happy

Three recommended new CDs released this week:

Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, “Dereconstructed”: Super hard to admit, but, yes, the latest Drive-By Truckers record was a little disappointing. But, thankfully, there’s “Dereconstructed” to compensate with bracingly bombastic Southern rock equal parts brawn and brains.

Sharon Van Etten, “Are We There”: The Brooklyn singer-songwriter’s songs are emotional harrowing, haunted by the ghosts of past loves, but there’s an understated beauty to them that makes them feel strangely uplifting.

Eyehategod, “Eyehategod”: The New Orleans sludge metal feedback fetishists return with their first album in 14 years. Crank this one and get even with your neighbor who’s been blasting the new Mariah Carey record all day.
