‘Too drunk to stand’: Videos of Raider Charles Snowden’s DUI released

Updated January 9, 2025 - 4:08 am

Las Vegas Raider Charles Snowden, whom officers called “too drunk to stand,” said he thought he was in Florida when he was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving last month, according to police body camera videos.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Public Records Unit on Wednesday posted three YouTube videos showing when officers said they found Snowden passed out behind the wheel with the vehicle still running and halfway suspended off a 4-foot retaining wall.

Police responded to 6408 S. Rainbow Blvd. at about 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 after a complaint about a suspicious vehicle, according to the report. Snowden was arrested at 12:12 a.m. on Dec. 10. He was charged with driving under the influence, according to court records.

Metro previously said the driver had no identification, and authorities summoned medical personnel because he couldn’t stay awake or answer questions. It was unclear how police identified the man as Snowden.

One of the videos Metro released from the incident showed an officer knocking on the driver’s side window of Snowden’s vehicle for more than three minutes to wake him up. In the footage, the officer, shining a flashlight into the vehicle, said he saw a “closed alcoholic beverage” inside.

The two officers in the video also discussed whether Snowden might have had a “medical episode.”

When Snowden finally exited the vehicle and was arrested, the same officer asked him if he knew what state he was in.

“Florida,” said Snowden, who wore a black Santa hat emblazoned with the Raiders team logo, a white button-up, and dress pants, before he appears to slump over onto the hood of a police car.

“We are going to have to place him in the car because he is too drunk to stand,” one officer said to another in the recording.

Snowden repeatedly asked officers if he could “go home,” video footage showed.

The Raiders have since released a statement stating, “The Raiders are aware of the incident involving Charles Snowden and have contacted the NFL and local authorities. The club will not comment further as this is a legal matter.”

Snowden, who according to court documents was released on his own recognizance, is still a member of the Raiders organization. According to the Raiders website, Snowden played in multiple games since his arrest, including the team’s season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
