Teen arrested in fatal Las Vegas hit-and-run in July

Updated August 23, 2017 - 7:33 pm

A 15-year-old was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run from late July in North Las Vegas, police said.

The teenager faces charges of a hit-and-run resulting in death and possession of a stolen vehicle, North Las Vegas Police said. He is being held at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.

On the morning of July 28, officers arrived at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Clayton Street to investigate a rollover crash of a pickup truck that injured three people and destroyed a bus stop.

A critically injured 17-year-old, Brittanie Brown, died later at University Medical Center. The two others injured survived.

Five people were inside the pickup truck, police have said. The two uninjured, including the 15-year-old driver arrested Tuesday, fled the scene before officers arrived.

The passenger inside the car when the driver fled will not face charges, Aaron Patty with North Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

Because the person arrested is a juvenile, North Las Vegas police is not identifying him.
