Updated April 17, 2024 - 6:23 pm

A stolen Las Vegas Fire Department ambulance was involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in North Las Vegas. A suspect in the theft has been taken into custody.

Las Vegas Fire Chief Fernando Gray said paramedics were tending to a medical emergency in the 400 block of Fremont Street around 6 a.m. when the vehicle was taken. A high-speed chase ensued for about one hour before the ambulance crashed into another vehicle in the area of Centennial Parkway and Pecos Road.

The suspect, who reported injuries, was not taken to the hospital but placed in police custody, Gray said. Another person who suffered injuries was taken to a local hospital.
