Woman arrested in central Las Vegas stabbing

A woman has been arrested in connection with a central valley stabbing that left an elderly man in grave condition Sunday morning, police said.

Officers responded just before 7 a.m. Sunday to a reported stabbing at 1526 N. Main St., near Foremaster Lane, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Christine Buist said.

The man who was stabbed was taken to University Medical Center, but because of the extent of his injuries Metro homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing, Buist said.

The man was in grave condition as of 4 p.m. Sunday and is not expected to survive, police said. Investigators determined that a woman stabbed the man in the head during a brief confrontation. Witnesses identified a woman near the scene as the suspect, police said.

Lakisha Hooks, 30, was arrested on one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
