Stabbing in southwest valley leaves man dead

A man died after he was stabbed multiple times Sunday in the southwest valley.

Around 11:30 p.m., multiple people on the 4200 block of Warbonnet Way, near South Buffalo Drive and Peace Way, told police that a bleeding man was screaming at their doors, the Metropolitan Police Department said. Arriving officers found the man suffering from a stab wound.

The man went to Spring Valley Hospital and then the University Medical Center, Metro said. He died at UMC.

Metro said the man lived in a house on the 4200 block of Warbonnet Way, where there was a fight between the decedent and a family member. A roommate broke up the fight. A few minutes later, the family member attacked the decedent again, Metro said.

The family member was also injured and treated at UMC, Metro said. Detectives who interviewed the man said they have not arrested him because he may have acted in self-defense.

This is the fifth homicide investigated by Metro in 2017.

The decedent’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once next of kin has been notified.
