Police searching for man who shot at Metro officers in central Las Vegas

A man shot at a pair of Las Vegas police officers late Wednesday, prompting a valleywide search for the shooter.

The man was initially driving recklessly on southbound Rancho Drive about 9:30 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

The man then pulled into a parking lot at 2950 W. Sahara Ave., where a pair of Metro officers also stopped, got out of their patrol car and started to approach the man’s vehicle.

As officers walked up to the man’s car, the man fired a single shot through his rear window at the officers, then sped away. The officers were not injured, and they did not return fire.

The man may still be armed and was last seen in his car — a dark, possibly green BMW with dark tinted windows and a bullet hole in the rear window. Gordon said the car may also have some under-carriage damage.

Anyone who sees or recognizes the car is urged to call 911, Gordon said.
