Man wounded in shooting near UNLV campus

A man was shot Tuesday morning at an apartment complex not far from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and police said the shooting suspect fled the scene.

Police received a call at 7:18 a.m. of a male shot at Rochelle Manor Apartments, 4340 Escondido St., near University Avenue, less than half a mile from campus.

Lt. Doug Bell said the victim was walking through the apartment complex when he was approached by a man riding a scooter. The man asked the victim if he wanted to buy drugs, and after a verbal exchange the man pulled a gun, shot the victim once in the arm, and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that are not life-threatening, Metro Officer Jesse Roybal said.

Police have made no arrests.
