Man shot, wounded during attempted robbery on Maryland Parkway

A man was shot during an attempted robbery Wednesday morning in central Las Vegas, police said.

Just before 6 a.m., police said the man was walking in the 2300 block of South Maryland Parkway when a sport utility vehicle pulled up next to him, Metro spokesman officer Michael Rodriguez said.

A man got out of the vehicle and attempted to rob him but was unsuccessful, Rodriguez said. The man was shot in the hip before the shooter got back in the vehicle and fled, he said.

The wounded man was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Rodriguez said.
