Man shot during carjacking in central Las Vegas early Friday

A man was shot during a carjacking early Friday in the central valley.

Las Vegas police said a man was standing by his car at 4200 Silver Dollar Ave., near Arville Street and Pennwood Avenue, about 1:15 a.m. when he was approached by two men.

The men demanded he hand over his car to them, and one of them shot him in the leg.

The men left in the car but were located by a Metro helicopter unit. The men crashed the car on Tara Avenue, about 3 miles away, and fled on foot, but officers later found and arrested them.

The man who was shot did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
