Man shoots 2 men with single bullet on Las Vegas Strip
November 7, 2016 - 9:56 am
A 26-year-old Las Vegas man is in custody after a double shooting on the Strip early Monday that may have been drug-related.
Dispatchers received a call about 2:30 a.m. reporting a shooting on the pedestrian bridge between The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood Resort, Metropolitan Police Department supervisor Lt. David Gordon said.
The shooting began with a fight between the 26-year-old suspect and two other men, Gordon said. One shot was fired and the two men were hit by the same bullet.
Both men shot were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive, Metro Capt. Chris Tomaino said at a press briefing Monday afternoon.
After the shooting, the suspect ran into Planet Hollywood Resort and was taken into custody about 10 minutes later, Tomaino said.
Police later said a Rashad Jackson, 26, was arrested in connection. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on two attempted murder charges, two battery with a deadly weapon charges and a charge for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
The men shot were also Las Vegas residents. Tomaino said the initial fight may have had something to do with drugs.
Jackson’s 48-hour hearing is scheduled Tuesday morning.
