Las Vegas shooting victim: Danae Gibbs, Texas

Updated October 2, 2017 - 7:09 pm

A 23-year-old Texas resident is in stable condition after receiving surgery for two gunshot wounds she suffered at the Route 91 country music festival Sunday night, according to a pastor at her church.

Danae Gibbs, who graduated from Texas Tech University this year, was shot in the abdomen and groin, said Pastor Kevin Hedges of the Riverbend Church in Austin. Gibbs is being treated at University Medical Center, Hedges said.

Gibbs is a part-time employee of the church’s ministry staff and was attending the music festival with a friend to celebrate her birthday, which is later this month, Hedges said.

“I just feel so sad that so many lost their lives,” said Gibbs’ mother, DeDe Kellicker. “I don’t know what to say. Please remember those families that weren’t so fortunate.”
