Las Vegas shooting victim: Bruce Ure, Seguin, Texas

The deputy chief of a Texas police department near San Antonio suffered a minor injury to his right hand from a piece of bullet shrapnel during the Route 91 country music festival shooting on Sunday night, a department spokesman confirmed by phone on Monday morning.

Bruce Ure, of the Seguin Police Department, posted on Facebook “I am ok too” this morning.

“The shooter was 22 floors directly above our room. Rounds hitting the ground all around us,” Ure wrote. “I am guessing 400-500 rounds. Maybe more. Sounded like a war zone.”

Department spokesman Carlos Contreras said Ure hoped to fly back to Texas Monday night.

“He’s safe and he is well,” Contreras said. “He was able to help out a few victims during the incident. He was able to apply a tourniquet to one victim, and he was able to help out with another injury. I believe a chest injury.”
