Las Vegas police arrest man after shots are fired inside RTC bus

Las Vegas police heard gunshots, saw people fleeing from a Regional Transportation Commission bus and took a man into custody Monday night near UNLV.

About 10:05 p.m. officers heard what they believed to be gunshots near the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

They saw passengers running from the bus and observed a man inside the bus holding what appeared to be a handgun, Meltzer said.

Officers took the man, Derrick Vincent, into custody and recovered the gun. He faces one charge each of possessing a controlled substance and possession of a gun by a prohibited person and five charges of discharging a gun where a person might be endangered, Clark County Detention Center booking logs show.

No injuries were reported, police said.
