Clerk, would-be robbers exchange gunfire in central Las Vegas

No one was injured after a shootout between a gas station clerk and two would-be robbers in the central valley.

Police responded about 2 a.m. Wednesday to reports of shots fired during an attempted robbery at 400 N. Eastern Ave., near Stewart Avenue, according to Metropolitan Police Lt. David Gordon.

Gordon said the clerk, who was carrying a handgun, exited a kitchen area and discovered two armed men wearing masks inside the store.

The clerk drew his weapon and the robbers started to get down on the ground but then ran toward the door, Gordon said. The clerk and robbers exchanged gunfire, firing 3-6 shots between the three.

The robbers fled the scene and are still at large, Gordon said. It appears nothing was stolen from the store.
