3 injured in machete fight, shooting in east Las Vegas

Updated September 29, 2017 - 4:20 pm

Las Vegas police are investigating a Thursday night machete fight and shooting that left three people injured in east Las Vegas.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Peter Kisfalvi said the fight and shooting were called in just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday as separate events in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, 4151 Boulder Highway, near Lamb Boulevard.

An altercation led to the machete fight, and then a few minutes later shots were fired. Kisfalvi said one person suffered a stab wound to the leg, and two others suffered gunshot wounds to the leg. At least one person was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, police said.

Police blocked off the 7-Eleven and a nearby bus stop. At the scene, it appeared two men where handcuffed in front of the gas station. Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield later confirmed that one person was taken into custody.

Kisfalvi said detectives are trying to determine what started the fight.
