1 person hospitalized after hammer vs. gun fight in west Las Vegas

A person was injured in a fight Wednesday morning in the west Las Vegas Valley, police said.

Metro said two people got into an altercation about 10 a.m. on the 6400 block of South Rainbow Boulevard, near Sunset Road. One had a gun, and the other had a hammer, police said.

Metro spokesman Aden OcampoGomez said shots were fired, but no one was hit.

One person was taken to University Medical Center with head trauma but was expected to survive, OcampoGomez said. Police initially said two people were hospitalized.

Police are investigating.
