A man arrested Tuesday in Henderson is a registered sex offender wanted in California on a parole violation, Metro police said.
Martin G. Suarez, 30, was arrested without incident just before 1 p.m. Tuesday near Sunset and Gibson roads, Metro said. He was taken into custody by the Sex Offender Predator Apprehension Team, a joint task force formed by the U.S. Marshals Office and Metropolitan Police Department, Metro said in a statement. Henderson police assisted in the arrest as well.
“Since the age of 14 he has been arrested more than 35 times in California for a variety of offenses,” Metro said. He was most recently arrested for possessing a firearm as a felon, a parole violation, and faces “additional charges for evading police while driving a stolen vehicle,” Metro said.
Suarez was located after a “lengthy investigation involving both local and federal officers from California and Nevada,” Metro said.
A registered sex offender, Suarez was wanted out of California with a warrant for his extradition stemming from the parole violation, according to Metro. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center where he is held without bail awaiting extradition.
