Saints running back Alvin Kamara arrested in Las Vegas

Updated February 7, 2022 - 2:11 pm

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was arrested Sunday in Las Vegas, police said.

Police were called to a hospital on Saturday night, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department. A victim reported being injured at a nightclub on the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard, police said.

Kamara, 26, was arrested the next day and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. He posted bond on Sunday night, and a hearing in the case scheduled for Monday afternoon was cancelled, court records show.

He also has a court appearance set for March 8, according to court records.

Earlier Sunday, Kamara played in the NFL’s Pro Bowl at Allegiant Stadium and had four catches for 23 yards.

NFL officials said the league was aware of the arrest, but declined to comment.

Kamara has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his five NFL seasons and eclipsed 1,300 scrimmage yards all five years he’s been in the league.

The former third-round pick out of Tennessee was named the NFL rookie of the year in 2017 and is one of only two players in NFL history to rush for six touchdowns in a single game.

Kamara, an Atlanta native, was one of the top high school prospects in the nation before attending Alabama, though he never played for the Crimson Tide.
