Dating app allegedly used to lure man into robbery near Las Vegas Strip

Updated July 8, 2019 - 12:09 pm

A 21-year-old woman was arrested early Monday by a Las Vegas patrol officer who interrupted an attempted robbery that police say was set up on a dating app.

Diamond Williams is facing charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery, jail records show. She was being held on $25,000 bail Monday at the Clark County Detention Center.

About 4 a.m., police have said, Williams met with a 25-year-old man, who she met through an online dating app, on the 200 block of Convention Center Drive. Once both were at the location, three men ran across the street, pointed a handgun at the man and demanded his belongings.

But before the trio could complete the robbery, a Metropolitan Police Department patrol officer, who happened to be in the area, stopped the three men.

The woman’s alleged co-conspirators ran and were not in custody as of late Monday morning, police said, although the investigation was continuing.

Williams’ initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court was scheduled for Tuesday morning, according to court and jail records.
