Three teenagers were among the victims in a string of three robberies Tuesday morning in east Las Vegas, police said.
The three robberies, between 6:37 and 9:58 a.m., happened within 4 miles of each other, the Metropolitan Police Department said Tuesday afternoon. The first robbery targeted two teenage female students walking to Desert Pines High School, and the second robbery targeted another teen walking to school, Lt. David Gordon said Tuesday morning.
Police were searching for two male suspects, about 17 to 19 years old, in connection with all three robberies.
About 6:37 a.m., police arrived at the 3900 block of Alameda Avenue, near Stewart Avenue and Pecos Road, to investigate reports of a robbery. Officers learned that two teenagers were walking when they turned at the sound of a voice behind them to find a male pointing a gun. The suspect took items from the teens and got into the passenger side of an older Nissan Sedan before the car drove away.
About 15 minutes later, police received a second call of a robbery near Pecos Road and Owens Avenue, just under 2 miles away from the first robbery. Gordon said Tuesday that the victim, another teen walking to school, was confronted by a suspect matching the description of the earlier robbery, who took the teen’s wallet.
Police said a sedan cut in front of the victim, who was walking down a sidewalk. The suspect got out of the car and demanded the victim’s property at gunpoint before fleeing in the car again.
The third robbery call was received about 9:58 a.m. near Bracken Avenue and 17th Street, about 4 miles from the other robberies, police said. The suspect and vehicle description was the same as the other encounters, but not further information about the last robbery was released Tuesday evening.
Police are asking for help identifying the two suspects, described as black teens or young men with thin builds and black hair. One suspect was wearing a dark jacket, red shirt and black pants. The other suspect was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and red pants.
The car was described as a black Nissan sedan with tinted windows and no license plates.
