Las Vegas courthouse hit-and-run suspect faces weapons charges
A woman arrested after a hit-and-run crash Monday outside the Regional Justice Center also was booked on weapons charges.
Jail records show that Shaquilla Stafford, 44, was arrested Monday in connection with the incident, which injured Queva Stafford, a prospective witness in a murder trial. Queva Stafford is the sister of the man who was killed, and Las Vegas police suspect she was struck intentionally while she walked on the sidewalk on Third Street.
Records show that Shaquilla Stafford was arrested on one count each of battery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and possession of a gun with a removed or altered serial number. Police said she posted bond and is no longer in custody.
Authorities have said the driver in the crash had a connection with Asa Brown, the defendant in the murder trial. Her relationship with Queva Stafford is unknown.
On Monday, a prosecutor in the murder case said Queva Stafford was struck by a car that is registered to Brown’s mother, whom he identified as Shaquella Brown.
