1 dead after ‘jealous’ man shoots ex-wife, other woman in Las Vegas

Updated January 4, 2025 - 3:07 pm

A man who police said was “jealous of his ex-wife’s new relationships” shot her and another woman in a car, killing one and critically injuring the other, after cutting them off in traffic.

During a news conference Friday night, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Robert Price said that officers received a call around 4:45 p.m. Friday from a man who said he had shot someone. When officers arrived at his location, the 4700 block of Sacks Drive near East Tropicana Avenue and South Nellis Boulevard, they found two vehicles in the middle of the street.

Officers found the man outside with his hands up and two women suffering from gunshot wounds inside one of the cars, Price said. One woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition; the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Price said that the man was taken into custody.

The man was the ex-husband of one of the women in the vehicle, said Price, citing the initial investigation.

“At some point in time during the relationship, the ex-husband became jealous of the ex-wife’s new relationships,” Price said.

That afternoon, the man located his ex-wife traveling south on Sacks Drive and, while driving his car, cut her off. Immediately, he got out of his car and fired into the other vehicle, striking both occupants, Price said.

“We encourage anybody with any information or video of this scene to please reach out to LVMPD homicide,” Price said.
