Police arrest 2 in connection with fatal shootings in east Las Vegas Valley

Las Vegas police arrested two men Wednesday in connection with two fatal shootings.

Anthony Martinez, 18, and Ocean Camacho, 19, were arrested in the 1900 block of Joyful Street, near East Lake Mead Boulevard, according to Metro.

On June 1, around 2 p.m., Metro officers responded to a shooting near Washington Avenue and Mezpah Street, police said. Upon arrival, officers located an adult and a teen with apparent gunshot wounds, Metro said. They were taken to University Medical Center where the two males died.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified the two as Humberto Manual Ocegueda-Ramos, 19, and Joshua Nunez, 17, both Las Vegas residents. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head, and both deaths were ruled homicides.

“The investigation initiated by the (Metro) homicide section indicated the victims were with another subject when they were involved in a confrontation with at least two unknown suspects in the area of Martin L. King Boulevard and Owens Avenue,” Metro said.

The man and teenager then left in their vehicle and were followed by the suspects to the area of Washington and Mezpah where the suspects fired gunshots from their vehicle before fleeing, police said.

“It appears that this may be narcotics related,” Metro said.

The fatal shootings represented the 74th and 75th homicides investigated by Metro in its jurisdiction in 2016.

“Martinez and Camacho were booked into the Clark County Detention Center and face two counts of murder with deadly weapon among other charges,” Metro said.
