Northwest Arizona man won’t be prosecuted for killing his son

A Kingman man who shot and killed his own son will not be prosecuted after Deputy Mohave County Attorney Greg McPhillips said 69-year-old Michael Marquette was legally justified in using lethal force to defend himself and his property.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s office said that on May 27 the elder Marquette reported that his son, Jonathan Marquette, had entered his home, robbed him and tased him several times. McPhillips said Michael Marquette was able to retrieve a weapon and shoot his son.

Jonathan Marquette, 23, was dead at the scene.
