North Las Vegas man arrested in April 2016 homicide

North Las Vegas police arrested a 35-year-old man and accused him of murder in an April 2016 homicide.

Police spokesman Eric Leavitt said Raul Lara of North Las Vegas was arrested on a warrant Sept. 30 on the 1800 block of Loida Court, near Washburn Road and Clayton Street, with help from Metropolitan Police Department.

Lara was booked into Clark County Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Police named him as a suspect in an April 15, 2016, shooting. Police said it happened about 11:15 p.m. on the 2100 block of Carroll Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Civic Center Drive. Arriving officers found a man, Davion McKinzie, outside with a gunshot wound. McKinzie, 34, died at University Medical Center.
