Metro investigates early morning homicide in east Las Vegas

A person was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in the east Las Vegas Valley.

Metro responded just after 2 a.m. to a call of a person shot at 1416 Sandhill Road, near Pecos Road and Washington Avenue, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment. He was taken to University Medical Center and later pronounced dead, Metro spokesman officer Larry Hadfield said.

The man was in the apartment with the tenant and other family members when another man kicked in the front door and gunshots were heard. Witnesses reported two men running out of the apartment after shots were fired.

The Clark County will identify the deceased person once family has been notified.

This is the 52nd homicide Metro has investigated this year.
