Man who was shot Thursday near Vegas Drive, Decatur has died

A man who was shot Thursday has died from his injuries, and Metro is now investigating his death as a homicide.

Police said the man, who was shot near Vegas Drive and North Decatur Boulevard, died at University Medical Center on Saturday.

The man was walking in the 5100 block of Vermont Avenue when another man in a black four-door car stopped, spoke to him briefly, then shot him and drove away.

Metro is still investigating the shooting, and the Clark County coroner’s office will release the victim’s identity and cause of death.

This is the 68th homicide Metro has investigated in 2016.
