Las Vegas shooting victim: Sandy Casey, Redondo Beach, California

A California special education teacher was among those killed during a mass shooting at the Route 91 country music festival Sunday night, the Manhattan Beach Unified School District reports.

Sandy Casey, 35, was a special education teacher at Manhattan Beach Middle School for nine years, according to a statement from the school district.

“We lost a spectacular teacher who devoted her life to helping some of our most needy students,” said Superintendent Michael Matthews, according to the statement.

Other employees of the middle school attended the music festival but were not injured. They include principal Kim Linz, teacher Debbie Dreiling, school psychologists Marjorie Questin and Emily Allen.

Two other school district employees, Chris Willemse and Karina Gerger, attended but were not injured.
