Las Vegas shooting victim: Austin Davis, Colton, California

Updated October 14, 2017 - 3:56 pm

Austin Davis and his father, Gary, did everything together: Fish, play catch, watch sports. Davis, a journeyman pipefitter, even worked with his dad from time to time on construction projects. They were best friends.

Davis, from Riverside, California, was among the 58 people killed in the Oct. 1 shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. He was 29.

Davis lived in a guest house on the same property as his parents, said his grandmother, Lana Haddox. The family was very close and spent a lot of time together, she said.

Haddox, who lives in Bellingham, Washington, cherishes the memories she has with her only grandchild.

“I’ve got pictures of Austin cooking and baking and (the family) up here for Christmas,” Haddox said. But the best was when everyone gathered in California for the holidays.

“Everybody wanted to be at their house for a holiday,” Haddox said. “I never knew who was going to be there. Everybody loved them, all ages.”

Davis was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival with his friend, Thomas Day, Jr., who also was killed in the attack.

Davis’ girlfriend of nine years, Aubree Hennigan, posted a tribute on Facebook.

“Through each and every day no matter what you always made me smile in one way or another,” Hennigan wrote. “Your (sic) are my heart, my soul, my everything. I will love you and cherish everything you gave me until my dying day.”

Family friend Katelyn Hood remembered Davis on a GoFundMe page for his parents.

“He was the mans (sic) man. He worked so very hard … Austin didn’t half-a** anything in life,” Hood wrote. “If he knew u (sic), he loved you.”
